Breakfast is my favorite meal of the day, and my Blackstone camping griddle is where I cook it. At camp, there’s nothing better than the smell of bacon and eggs on a hot griddle while the sun comes up. This summer, I did all of that cooking on one little piece of gear.
What I Use: Blackstone Camping Griddle with Side Burner

We bought it in June 2026, right before we headed out on our summer camping adventures. It’s a compact griddle with a side burner, latches to keep it closed, and leveling feet, which come in handy at a campsite that’s anything but level.
Why I Picked It Over a Camp Stove
Two reasons: it’s very portable, and it can run off a regular propane tank. Out of the box it uses the little one-pound bottles, but with a 6-foot adapter hose, I hook it right up to a standard tank and don’t have to keep buying the small ones.

How It Travels
When we were pulling The Little Guy, the griddle rode in the bed of the truck along with a three-fold portable table and a carrying case. I got my table at Cabela’s, and Amazon doesn’t carry Cabela’s gear, but here’s one that’s similar:

In our new camper, it rides in the right rear storage compartment. It folds up so small, you’d hardly know it’s there.
I keep it in a carrying case, and I’d do that with any portable griddle. It makes it easy to carry, and I use the case to cover it at camp and keep the weather off when it’s not in use.

What I Cook on It
When the weather’s nice, I cook just about every meal outside on it. Breakfast is still my favorite, but it does a whole lot more than eggs. I’ve cooked pork loin, sliders, buffalo burgers, and stir-fry on it, to name a few. Here’s one of our most popular videos, me making black and blue buffalo burgers:
And here’s my favorite meal on it, breakfast at Wilson Island in Iowa:
What I Love About It
- It folds up small. It takes up hardly any room in the truck or the camper.
- It runs off a regular propane tank with the adapter hose. No more stocking up on little bottles.
- It cooks just about anything. If it fits on a griddle, I’ve cooked it on this one.
What Drives Me Crazy
The side burner sits too close to the griddle, and lower than it. That means you can only use a very small pot or frying pan on it. If I could change one thing, I’d give that burner more room, even if it made the whole unit a little longer. It would make the side burner a lot more useful.
Cleanup isn’t bad at all. I use drip pan liners, which make it easy. Just don’t let them overflow.

Anything I’d Call a Waste of Money?
No. This has been a good all-around product. I even used it at home when we weren’t camping, right up until my brother gave me his old Blackstone. It was well worn, so I gave it a little rehab with a restore kit, and it’s in better shape now than when he handed it over.

Would I Buy It Again?
Yes. I’d still like more room around that side burner, but it’s not a deal breaker.
Here’s my one piece of advice: if you don’t need the side burner, go with the 20-inch tabletop griddle instead. I almost bought one, and I’d most likely get it next time. You get more cooking surface in a package that’s still easy to haul.

The Bottom Line
If you camp and love to cook, a portable griddle will change your camp kitchen. This one has earned its spot in ours. Pair it with a propane adapter hose and a carrying case, and you’re set for just about any meal you can dream up.
I’m just saying.
